How awesome is our God that a man could survive 9-11 in the Pentagon and be at our church one Thursday evening, August 5! Brian told 200 men and women his story and reminded us that life can be very different from what we signed up for and we can still be used of God. What a perspective! What a testimony! What a challenge! Lt.Col. (Retired) Brian Birdwell and his wife Mel told their incredible journey in Founders Chapel following a delicious Barbeque Dinner provided by Circle P Barbeque (First Church's own Matt Preston and Caleb Hailey). Desserts were graciously provided by the Iron Men. Fishers of Men blessed us with beautiful patriotic music. It was the Well's first invitation to men and it won't be the last. The committee plans a yearly event to include men since this one was so well- received, even on a very hot summer evening. Click here to see the photo album.
On May 6, 280 women and teenage girls joined together for a night of fellowship, good food, and an insightful message. We were surrounded by 35 beautifully and uniquely decorated tables complete with full service by the men of our congregation. Jennifer Strickland, former supermodel, shared her testimony about finding her inner beauty in Christ and how beauty should be from the inside out. It was truly a night for women, and we were all blessed to be together. Click here to see the entire photo album.
Another Thursday night at "The Well" and all were replenished in one way or another. Josh Ingram captivated us with some beautiful songs that he has written. What a joy it was to watch his wife in the audience as he performed the song he wrote about his love for her. Our guest speaker, Natalie Witcher, gave us plenty to think about regarding the baggage we carry. Guilt, shame, fear, anger and envy are the top five pieces of baggage that we lug around. Natalie made it clear to us that the enemy is not creative. He hits us over and over with the same things. Nevertheless, we can overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. thanks to all of you who brought gently used purses for the women's shelter. It is such a blessing to enjoy an evening with women who are so generous! Click here to see more pictures from the event.
What a lovely evening we enjoyed at the January “Well” event. Caleb Hailey sang three beautiful songs: Testify To Love, Angels Among Us, and Temporary Home. Our guest speaker, Thelma Wells, treated us to a delightful discussion about how each of us has a purpose for being on this earth. We may not know exactly what that purpose is, but God is orchestrating things in our life so that we will be able to figure it out. She encouraged us to focus on what we really enjoy doing to help us find that purpose. Panera Bread provided a light dinner of broccoli cheese or potato soup, harvest apple salad and yummy chocolate brownies. Click here for the full photo album.
Guests who attended the November “Well” were treated to a wonderful evening of “Biblical Wisdom” from Dr. Cindy Ryan. Her wonderful humor allowed us to laugh and appreciate the challenges of growing older. Singer, Donna Kay inspired us with uplifting music from her album as we enjoyed picnic lunches from Panera Bread. If you have never attended one of our events, January will be a great time to start as Thelma Wells will be our guest speaker. Click here to view the full photo album.
