Rev. Melburn Sibley
Pastor of Resource Development
Role:
Minister of Resource Development/Care Ministry. Staff Rep to Endowment Committee
Started at First Church:
Early 2004
Education/Background:
Melburn earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Baylor University, majoring in history and religion. He also earned a M. Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as pastor of churches for more than 25 years. Other ministries include serving as Superintendent of the South Texas Children's Home and leading more than 70 churches of various denominations in capital stewardship campaigns.
Family:
Wife, Martha, daughter: Michele Sibley Riddle, son: Michael; grandchildren: Matilda and David Sibley and Julie Riddle
Favorite Scripture:
Proverbs 3: 5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." I love this verse because I have found problems come when I try to go it alone but when following God, He makes a way.
Favorite movie:
The Sound of Music
What I like best about my ministry:
I enjoy my work because I like to see God's work move forward. It is a joy to see the difference it makes in people when they turn to God and depend upon Him.
For fun I:
read, travel, see my grandchildren develop, visit with long time friends, and play with my dog.
